This procedure uses color to map the arteries in your leg(s) to identify narrowing of your vessels that may be causing leg pain when walking, resting leg pain, foot, ankle, heel or toe ulcers, or skin discoloration.
No special preparation is needed for this test. It takes approximately 30-45 minutes. Additionally, blood pressure reading will be taken of your ankles.
You will not feel any pain; however, you will feel mild pressure from the blood pressure cuff and the transducer.
A cardiologist will read the ultrasound pictures on the day of your test. If the results are abnormal, your physician will be notified within 24 hours or the next business day and the nurse will contact you. If the results are normal, you will receive a letter within 5-7 days.
