It’s #menshealthmonth, and we’re striving to bring awareness to men’s health issues, including why so many avoid check-ups. It’s not surprising that men tend to visit the doctor less than women. What is surprising is some of the top reasons, according to a national survey commissioned by Orlando Health.
The study showed the top excuse men make to avoid scheduling annual exams with their primary care physician is that they are too busy. The second most common reason is that men are afraid of finding out something might be wrong with them. Men also say they aren’t comfortable with certain kinds of exams like prostate checks, which rounds up the top three excuses.
