BOTOX® Cosmetic
BOTOX® Cosmetic injections are a simple 5-minute procedure designed to address the dynamic wrinkles of the forehead and eye regions.
BOTOX® Cosmetic works by stopping muscle contraction, which then relaxes the overlying skin to improve the skin wrinkling. Injections are performed in the office using a very small needle. A topical anesthetic ointment is applied to the skin prior to treatment and can render the injections almost painless.
Individual results may vary. Learn more about BOTOX® Cosmetic at www.botoxcosmetic.com.
Juvederm® Dermal Fillers
JUVÉDERM® is a safe and natural cosmetic dermal filler that restores volume and fullness to the skin to correct moderate to severe facial wrinkles and folds, such as nasolabial folds. There are five different types of JUVÉDERM® INJECTABLE GEL FILLERS:
PRP Hair Restoration
There’s an emerging treatment—platelet-rich plasma (PRP) therapy now offered at Alabama Medical Group by Clare Carney, M.D., Ph.D., that’s helping restore hair loss for both men and women.
How does PRP therapy work?
During the treatment, the patient’s blood is drawn and gets spun in a centrifuge, which concentrates the platelet rich plasma and removes the red blood cells. The plasma is then injected into the scalp, which promotes collagen production, cell rejuvenation, wound healing and stimulates hair growth. The injection schedule will depend on your genetics, pattern and amount of hair loss, age and hormones.
The cost of each session is $600, because the treatment is cosmetic, insurance does not cover the cost of the procedure.
How frequently do I have to repeat the procedure?
There is no specific time frame, but I typically see patients four to six months after the first treatment followed by once a year maintenance.
When do you see results?
Typically, in four to six months after the procedure, although some patients report having results before that time. After that time, most patients – both male and female, have regrown 30 to 40 percent of the hair they’ve lost.
Who makes a good candidate for PRP therapy?
PRP is safe and effective for many people. However, you should not have PRP therapy if you have an underlying disorder such as thyroid disease or lupus or if you are on blood thinners, as your platelets won’t work as effectively and the procedure is not as effective. Also, PRP therapy is more effective if a patient’s hair loss is recent. It is more challenging to stimulate hair follicles that have been dormant for an extended period of time.
KYBELLA®
KYBELLA® is a prescription medicine used in adults to improve the appearance and profile of moderate to severe fat below the chin (submental fat), also called “double chin.”
KYBELLA® MAY BE RIGHT FOR YOU IF:
HOW KYBELLA® WORKS
The active ingredient in KYBELLA® is synthetic deoxycholic acid. Deoxycholic acid is a naturally occurring molecule in the body that aids in the breakdown and absorption of dietary fat. When injected into the fat beneath the chin, KYBELLA® destroys fat cells, resulting in a noticeable reduction in fullness under the chin. Once destroyed, these cells can no longer store or accumulate fat, so further treatment is not expected once you reach your desired aesthetic goal.
