R.N. – Infusion Nurse

Alabama Medical Group has an immediate full-time opening for an Infusion Registered Nurse.

Education:  R.N. Completion of training from an accredited school of nursing.

Experience: Minimum experience of 2 years as a R.N. Infusion experience preferred.

Other Requirements:

  1. Current Alabama nursing license.
  2. Current BLS and ACLS certification.
  3. Excellent communication skills.
  4. Strong assessment, organizational and problem-solving skills.
  5. Ability to function independently and exercise judgment in interactions with physicians, interprofessional care team, and patients.

General Summary: Job responsibilities include administering intravenous medications and fluids, and subcutaneous and intramuscular injections as ordered by physicians.

Essential Job Responsibilities:

  1. Schedule patients for infusion and injection appointments.
  2. Start peripheral IVs and maintain central venous catheters.
  3. Prepare and administer medications as ordered.
  4. Monitor patients during treatment.
  5. Provide education to patients on how to manage conditions and follow-up care post infusion.
  6. Collaborate and confer with physicians regarding patient’s status and treatment needs.
  7. Document all interactions and communication with patients, plan of treatment, assessment, patient responses/reactions to treatment, status of disease process and training activities.

Enter medical documentation data into EHR.

Other duties as assigned.

Hours are Monday through Friday; 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.  Must be flexible to schedule changes.

R.N. – Phone Nurse

Alabama Medical Group has a full-time position available for a R.N. phone nurse.

Education: R.N. Completion of nursing training from an accredited school of nursing.

Experience: Experience as a R.N. in a medical practice setting preferred.

Other Requirements: Current state registered nurse license. Current CPR certificate.

General Summary:  A non-exempt position responsible for providing triage (sorting/prioritizing patients) telephone service to ensure prompt identification of patients with high–risk conditions. Primary care to patients including assessment, treatment, care planning and medical care evaluation.

Essential Job Responsibilities:

  1. Talks directly to patients on the telephone and then directs them to emergency rooms (ERs) or urgent care centers or to see their physician during office hours
  2. Performs short evaluation of the patient situation to estimate severity of illness and/or injury including learning about chief complaint and, as possible, obtaining vital sign and mental status information.
  3. Determines urgency of seeing the patient based on brief assessment and on familiarity with a patient’s condition and history.  Confers with physician as needed.
  4. Send those with high-risk complaints such as chest pain, abdominal pain, or severe headaches to ER immediately or arranges for ambulance. May provide appropriate home health advice to those patients who do not need to go directly to the ER.
  5. Sets up appointment for patients who do not need to go to ER but need to see physician or arranges for an appointment scheduler to make the appointment.
  6. Acts, when appropriate, in “Ask a Nurse” capacity, handling routine information requests from patients, e.g., “Do I need a flu shot every year/ When are you giving these shots/.”
  7. Obtains, verifies, and records health history of patients.  Gathers pertinent health data through physical assessments and biological samples.  Collects specimens for laboratory analysis.
  8. Provides basic patient care as ordered.  Administers medications and treatments as directed.  Assists other health care professionals in performing exams, diagnostic procedures and treatments, and minor medical procedures.  Adheres to infection control/safety guidelines and confidentiality policies.
  9. Documents assessments, intervention, patient/family responses, medication dispensed/prescribed, and test results in medical records.
  10. Promotes wellness by providing patient education materials, communicating physician advice/instructions.

Certified Medical Assistant

Alabama Medical Group has an immediate full-time position available for a Certified Medical Assistant. Must possess certification or registration with a national medical assistant registry.  Job duties include: taking patient vitals, gathering patient medical history, injections, administering EKG’s, preparing prior authorizations, discharging patients, communicating well with hall nurse, inputting requisite information into EMR system.

Hours are Monday through Friday; 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., but must be flexible.

Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN)

Alabama Medical Group has an immediate full-time position available for a Licensed Practical Nurse. Must possess a state nursing license.
