Alabama Medical Group has an immediate full-time opening for a phlebotomist. Job duties include performing venipuncture on patients, preparing equipment to efficiently collect blood products, assisting donors before during and after donations, inventory supplies, clean and sterilize equipment, and other duties as assigned.

Education: High school diploma. Phlebotomy certificate preferred.

Experience: Minimum one year of phlebotomy experience. Certification as medical assistant preferred, but not required.

Clinical Esthetician

Alabama Medical Group has a full-time position available for a licensed clinical esthetician. Job duties include performing chemical peels, microdermabrasion, facials, dermaplaning, micro needling and a full spectrum of laser services under the supervision of a physician. Esthetician is also responsible for training and education to patients on the treatment and care of their skin, assisting physician with injectables and fillers, promoting skin products and sales, and maintaining inventory of products as well as maintaining the procedure and spa rooms and equipment. Must be a graduate of an accredited aesthetician program and hold a current esthetician license in the state of Alabama. 3 plus years’ experience preferred.

X-ray Technologist

R.N. – Infusion Nurse

Alabama Medical Group has an immediate full-time opening for an Infusion Registered Nurse.

Education:  R.N. Completion of training from an accredited school of nursing.

Experience: Minimum experience of 2 years as a R.N. Infusion experience preferred.

Other Requirements:

  1. Current Alabama nursing license.
  2. Current BLS and ACLS certification.

  2. Start peripheral IVs and maintain central venous catheters.
  3. Prepare and administer medications as ordered.
  4. Monitor patients during treatment.
  5. Provide education to patients on how to manage conditions and follow-up care post infusion.
  6. Collaborate and confer with physicians regarding patient’s status and treatment needs.

Department: Customer Service

General Summary:  A nonexempt position responsible for greeting and registering patients and visitors, processing paperwork and verifying correct patient information.

Essential Job Responsibilities:

  1. Greet and assist patients and visitors
  2. Perform general office duties such as filing, copying, faxing and answering multiple line telephone system
  3. Assure that all patients/clients are checked in promptly, according to procedure, and routed to appropriate area.

R.N. – Phone Nurse

Education:  RN. Completion of nursing training from an accredited school of nursing.

General Summary:  A non-exempt position responsible for providing triage (sorting/prioritizing patients) telephone service to ensure prompt identification of patients with high –risk conditions.  Primary care to patients including assessment, treatment, care planning and medical care evaluation.

Essential Job Responsibilities:

  1. Talks directly to patients on the telephone and then directs them to emergency rooms (ERs) or urgent care centers or to see their physician during office hours
  2. Performs short evaluation of the patient situation to estimate severity of illness and/or injury including learning about chief complaint and, as possible, obtaining vital sign and mental status information.
  3. Determines urgency of seeing the patient based on brief assessment and on familiarity with a patient’s condition and history. Confers with physician as needed.
  4. Send those with high-risk complaints such as chest pain, abdominal pain, or severe headaches to ER immediately or arranges for ambulance. May provide appropriate home health advice to those patients who do not need to go directly to the ER.
  5. Sets up appointment for patients who do not need to go to ER but need to see physician or arranges for an appointment scheduler to make the appointment.
  6. Acts, when appropriate, in “Ask a Nurse” capacity, handling routine information requests from patients, e.g., “Do I need a flu shot every year/ When are you giving these shots/”
  7. Obtains, verifies, and records health history of patients.  Gathers pertinent health data through physical assessments and biological samples.  Collects specimens for laboratory analysis.
  8. Provides basic patient care as ordered. Administers medications and treatments as directed.  Assists other health care professionals in performing exams, diagnostic procedures and treatments, and minor medical procedures.  Adheres to infection control/safety guidelines and confidentiality policies.
  9. Documents assessments, intervention, patient/family responses, medication dispensed/prescribed, and test results in medical records.
  10. Promotes wellness by providing patient education materials, communicating physician advice/instructions.
  11. Other duties as assigned by supervisor

Education:  RN. Completion of nursing training from an accredited school of nursing.

Experience: experience as an RN preferred in medical practice setting.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, and pathophysiology. Familiarity with health care systems, regulations, policies, and functions. Understanding of documentation standards.

  • Knowledge of telephone-based clinical assessment techniques.
  • Knowledge of medical practice telephone triage protocols.
  • Knowledge of appropriate home health information for patients to follow until visit with physician.  Able to educate patient of these practices.
